The Goodness of Green

I recently failed a test... and I'm not in university anymore. After too many colds and allergy issues this year, I went to a doc to see what was going on. As my hubs lovingly accompanied me into my allergy testing, I psyched myself out a little and got nervous.

My nurse did 53 scratches, testing for various inhalants and pollens, and I nearly passed out (read: they laid me on the floor, put ice packs around my chest and back, and I sipped orange juice through a straw with my feet propped up and a fan blowing on me) To top it off, I reacted to 25 of the tests. Fail.

I'd been sipping on this delish post-yoga smoothie I whipped up for several days before the testing. And then I learned I was allergic to flax. Oops. That explains the sheer exhaustion I felt for three days. But that aside, I make this shake (or a variant of it) almost every day (sans flax, of course).

Green Goodness Smoothie
one serving

1/2 cup almond milk (or your preference)
4 ice cubes
3 TBS Greek yogurt (I'm fully committed to Fage brand)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp flax (I now omit)
1 tsp honey
1 banana
3-4 frozen strawberries
1 large handful spinach

Combine ingredients in your blender/bullet/etc. and pulse until well-blended (about 2-3 minutes). Enjoy!
