This week (unsurprisingly) has been one of great reflection and awe for me about our Savior's life, death and resurrection. This weekend we get the privilege to openly celebrate Jesus Christ coming back to life, conquering death.
As you've probably picked up, I love me some good jams. Coming up with this list I could have easily given you the Friday 15 or 50. But let's not break from tradition, ok?
Here are five of my favorite songs about the resurrection and a lyric I particularly love from each. Every song evokes such a deep longing in my heart for Jesus, a sense of awe and gratitude at what He's done, the power He beholds and how worthy Jesus is to be praised.
Add them to your Easter playlist. (You have one of those, right? If not, start compiling one! You've got two days. And why not keep that playlist looping year round?)
1. Forever by Kari Jobe.
"The ground began to shake, the stone was rolled away. His perfect love could not be overcome."
2. Alive by Natalie Grant.
"What kind of love tells me I'm the reason He can't stay inside the grave? You. Is it you? Standing here before my eyes, every part of my heart cries..."
3. Happy Day by Kim Walker Smith (of Jesus Culture).
"Endless joy, perfect peace. Earthly pain finally will cease. Celebrate, Jesus is alive! He is alive!"
4. Nothing but the Blood by All Sons + Daughters (their rendition).
"No other fount I know, nothing but the blood of Jesus."
5. Jesus Paid it All by Kristian Stanfill (his rendition)
"And when before the throne, I stand in Him complete, 'Jesus died my soul to save,' my lips shall still repeat..."
